Landscaping Makes The Difference

When was the last time you decided to change the look of your home? What seemed to have the biggest effect? Paint? Siding? A new garage door? Actually, these do help, but the thing that seems to have the greatest impact on a home's street appeal is the landscaping. You know - those neatly trimmed shrubs, the well laid out plants, and the right selection of trees.

So how can you get the best look from the plants, trees, and shrubs that are available? There are a number of choices out there for the average consumer. You can go to a professional landscaper and have them do it all. Of course that comes with a price. It is usually the easiest and fastest way to make your house look great. They know how to pick out the right plants, the right location of shrubs, and if trees are needed which ones to choose and where to place them in your yard. If you are lazy like me, this is a great choice.

The other option is to do it your self. You will take a lot off the total price tag with this route, but you will definitely put in some sweat equity (literally). For those of you who like to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and have the joy of completing projects on your own, this will also give you the greatest reward once you are done.

Even though you have spent time and money fixing up your home, remember to complete the project with a great look and curb appeal through your yard's landscaping. Check out the great selection of plant, trees, shrubs, and perennials from this site.

The Rambling Red Rose is a climbing variety of rose that produces fully double flowers that are medium red in color and borne in clusters on a vigorous plant.

This winter hardy climber is disease resistant and produces strong, pliable canes. Hardy to zones three through nine, this is an outstanding addition to the ranks of winter hardy climbers.

The Red Flowering Dogwood Tree, ‘Cornus florida,’ produces red new growth. This dogwood tree is a moderately growing tree and is somewhat resistant to mildew.

Its beautiful flowers are a deep ruby red color that lasts for most of the season. Its fall color is a bright scarlet red.

This Dogwood is a great under-story selection for any semi-shaded area. It is now being used in conjunction with typical foundation plantings and groundcovers for large beds that surround a building.

The Solidago Goldrush, ‘Solidago cutleri,’ is a Blooms of Bressingham plant. This lovely selection will provide an extended display of its dazzling golden colored flowers.

The plants will come into the fall months with masses of yellow flower clusters that nearly block out the foliage for almost one month. The tiny yellow flowers are uniform and compact, growing in a mound.

This plant should be planted in full sunlight at the front of beds and borders or in containers. The soil should be well draining and lightly fertilized. Excessive fertilizer will cause the plants to produce more foliage and fewer flowers.
